So You Think It’s Safe To Let A Dog Lick You, Maybe Not

A woman named Julie McKenna from Mildura, Australia didn’t think twice when her dog who is a Terrier licked her superficial burn that she had.
Julie wound up going into a septic shock that had not only sent her to the hospital it also made her lose all of her fingers, a leg and the toes on the other foot.
This is pretty scary when you read something like this, but there is even more.
A man named Yorke Mountforde from Tasmanian was bit by a dog that resulted in only a nip that didn’t even draw any blood and within twenty four hours Yorke was in the hospital comatose.
Now with Yorke having a greater risk for an infection from having his spleen removed when he was a kid made maters worst in contacting the infection called capnocytophagia bacteria that dogs and cats carry in their mouths. So five months later Yorke had lost his two legs and later his fingers.

So this is getting to a point that kinder makes you wonder if this is a fluke or is this something we should watch out for. I know that I always let my two dogs lick me especially when I just get home from a road trip from work.

Pit Bull Bites A Cop As He Approaches A Car

We all know that Pit Bulls are sometimes very violent dogs at times.
Well when this Ohio Police officer walked over to a car he had just pulled over the Pit bull lunged out threw the back window and bit the officer’s arm.
You would think that with all the training these officer’s receive that he would have made sure the dog was out of reach before he got too close to the door. After looking at the video you just wonder if the dog was just protecting his owner. Remember that not all of these Pit Bull breeds are bad dogs, but no matter what kind of breed your dog is most dogs will protect their owner when they sense some kind of danger.

So what is your view:
Should the officer had taken a little more time in accessing the vehicle or do you think that the owner was at fault?

U.S. District Judge Restores Protection For The Gray Wolves

With only an estimate of two thousand grey wolves left in the Montana, Wyoming and Idaho region environmentalist had an attorney named Doug Honnold representing the Earthjustic group and other environmental groups help to stop the scheduled hunt of five hundred wolves.

The U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy has granted a preliminary injunction to put a stop on the killing of these wolfs.

Just think about Montana having 147,165 Sq Miles and Wyoming having 97,818 Sq Miles along with Idaho having 83,642 Sq Miles which makes a total of 328,625 miles in the area for only 2000 plus or minus give each dog a 164 miles a piece to live in…
I just don’t understand why you would kill them in less one of the dogs were attacking someone or one of your animals. I must say that these are some beautiful animals.

Did PETA Breaks The Rules On Sex Talk About Dogs

Video by PETA

PETA has come out with a video that is going to get a lot of people upset when they view this video.
I even thought that it was too much to link child birth to promoting the spraying and neutering of pets.
Melissa Karpel who is the spokeswoman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said: PETA isn't really comparing teen pregnancy with animal overpopulation, but is trying to make a point by linking the two in the ad. It’s irresponsible to let your children have unprotected sex and it’s irresponsible to not spay and neuter your animals when we’re in an animal overpopulation crisis in the United Sates. There are 8 million companion animals are currently languishing in shelters across the United States.
Yes there are a real lot of pet animals that are homeless and they have a point but I still think that this goes a bit over the edge on the awareness.

Dog Trainer Must Serve Time For Killing His Dog

Magistrate Ross Clugston has sentenced a dog trainer named Terry Darragh to spend five months in periodic detention and one hundred and fifty hours of community service along with a thousand dollar fine.
You see this dog trainer Terry had left his Greyhound Go Bronco in his car after he had an accidentand reported the car stolen. So tell me do you think he was drunk and was trying to cover up the accident and just walk away from his pet dog. Something tells me that this story is getting fishy, especially when he said that he was suffering from anxiety and depression at the time.
How do you walk away from you true friend that you raised from a puppy. The poor dog was critically ill with dehydration and heat exhaustion when he was found before he died. I just hope nobody ever asks this bum to train their dog after what Terry did.

Dog Eats His Own Paw To Escape

I was reading a article about a little puppy that was only about ten weeks old with his one paw chewed off.
That was heart breaking to read, fortunately the poor dog was found by a neighbor of an abandon house. You read over and over about people just walking away from their homes and just leaving their pets. Don’t they know that any shelter will take their pet with no questions asked?
Linda Sutphin from the Dogs 2nd Chance rescue group said that they had to amputate the little guys leg and it will take about two weeks to recover.

It’s Called The K9 Fundraising Danceathon

It all started when a woman named Sarita and her husband Phil Barnet saw an ad about a blind dog in a tabloid.
Sarita said: We thought no one would want a blind puppy. She might have been left there forever so we decided to go and get her. Sarita and Phil have six other dogs with some of them being rescued.
Sarita’s sister Janice Shaw decided to organize a fundraising event to help the K9 Friends dog home with their work and came up with the K9 fundraising danceathon. Janice said: We wanted to do something fun so we have come up with a danceathon, there will be karaoke too. We want people to pledge to dance or sing a song. It will go on for 24 hours and hopefully will be good fun.

If you want to help the K9 fundraising danceathon please contact Sarita Barnett at sarphilly@hotmail.com or call 050 657 8784, or Janice Shaw at jshaw1x@nalco.com or call 050 739 6795.

Now that’s a great story on how a little bit of love has turned into a dream of hope for other dogs in the shelter.

DOG OWNERS RESPONSE TO MATT AND KELLY

RE: Dane and Pug Theft (WA State)

RE: Stolen Pets

Update from Pug and Great Dane Owners (Spanaway/Tacoma)

This is the post by the owners of the dogs.

This is how it all started- we went to movie matinee on Sun June 1st, we got home and dogs were gone and backslider was open. We started driving around , asking people, called animal control, humane society and found/injured dog lines. Not 1 clue as to where they disappeared to. Started to lose hope, but still called every day to found dogs and kept posting ad on here for missing dogs. July 5th- went to CL to repost ad and right there in front of my face is my dog being sold for $150 I was so happy to see she was alive and okay- My heart was racing, then as I looked closer in the pic I saw my pug in the background- it was my Samson!! I called the # immediately went to voicemail so I left a message as an interested buyer so I could try to meet them- and know where they are. No response, then had family and friends call about buying dogs. No response. Finally I called again and they answered. When I told them I wanted to buy dog, they said we already sold her sorry. My heartfell...I said when? You just posted the ad on July 4th at 5pm, Its July 5th at 1pm!! The girl said sorry. I was so upset at this point I told her- You just sold my dog- I have a chip, papers and pictures to prove that great dane and the pug are mine!! Unless you want me at your door with the police I suggest you cooperate and we will handle it quietly. She began telling a woman name Kelly what I said she began yelling, Call the cops I don't give a **ck!! Then hung up. Called Police they came over did report, police called the people too. Cop said he talked to 4 different people at that house they all have different stories, they are all obviously lying. I begged please go get our dogs, can't you get a warrant for their address or something? He said he can't unless there is proof a crime was committed by breaking into our house and stealing them. We have no proof. He said if WE find their location them call police back, he will go to there house and find our dogs. If you know who has our dogs or if you have seen them, or bought them we will reimburse you for whatever you paid or if you don't want to give us dog just respond and tell us where you went to get dog and maybe there is hope we can find the pug still, help us get our dogs home. 'There's no charge for love

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of little boy.

'Mister,' he said, 'I want to buy one of your puppies.

''Well,' said the farmer,as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, 'These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.

' The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket,he pulled out a handful of changeand held it up to the farmer.

'I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?'

'Sure,' said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. 'Here, Dolly!' he called.

Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran

Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.

The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence,

the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse.

Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up.... '

I want that one,' the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, 'Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would.

' With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers.

In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Looking back up at the farmer, he said,'You see sir,
I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands.

'With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.'How much?' asked the little boy.

'No charge,' answered the farmer, 'There's no charge for love.

' The world is full of people who need someone who understands It's National Friendship Week.

Are You Looking For A Hunting Dog

I stopped over at Gun Dog Mag today and read an article by Bob West that talked about buying a puppy for the hunters? Bob talks about how people would look and hold a dog thinking that they know they have found the one. He also talks about how the breeder will try a figure out how much you have to spend and sell you the most expensive one if he can.
The main thing I have read about is first what are you going to use your dog for, in meaning what are you hunting for birds, deer or what have you… Then to find a real known breeder that is well known for their dogs and you will most likely get your self a great dog in the long run.
I must say that Bob had a great article.

There was also an article by James B. Spencer who talked about a women named Luann Pleasant from Red Rover Retrievers Kennel who talked about picking the right puppy. Luann said that with out the right training you will just ruin the dog that you paid all that money for.

Marines Discharge Dog Thrower

I don’t know if you remember the video on You Tube that showed a Marine named Lance Cpl. David Motari, well the Marines has finally discharged this bum.
The article didn’t say what really happened to Marine, Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion except that he received unspecified non-judicial punishment.
You would think that Crismarvin being a higher ranking soldier, he should have been treated at lest with the same judgment as Motari.
