British Fear Bovine TB After A Nurse, Her Daughter And Their Dog Test Positive

A nurse from Cornwall, Britain and her daughter along with their dog have tested positive for Bovine TB and was confirmed by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra)

A former government veterinary officer in Cornwall named Roger Sainsbury who specialized in bovine TB for 30 years, said; My real concern is that the number of cases in humans could increase because of the high incidence of TB in the environment. And that the threat was not confined to rural areas and was emerging closer to larger human populations.

Veterinary surgeon Nicky Paul said; My biggest concern would be if the report showed the nurse had picked up the disease direct from handling a badger.

Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said; that the disease had been found in two dogs and eleven cats so far this year.

Whispering Oaks Kennel Turns Over Almost 1000 Dogs To Humane Officials

Officials are saying that there were about 1000 dogs at the Whispering Oaks Kennel in Parkersburg, W.Va. that were given up by the owner Sharon Roberts who agreed to stay out of the dog breeding business.

The executive director for the Humane Society of Parkersburg Maryann Hollis said; This is not what dogs were put on this planet for. I equate this to living in one room of my house for all of my life and somebody just dropping groceries by once a week, not a lot of stimulation. How can you raise dogs without worming them and vaccinating them, trimming their toenails and grooming them?

Deputy Robert Sims of the Wood County Sheriff's Office said; Some of them, you put them on the ground and they don't know what it is because they've lived their entire life on wire mesh.

Over and over we keep reading about how bad these puppy mills really are. They say that most of the dogs were purebred Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, Poodles and other small breed dogs and one of them was partially paralyzed. The Best Friends Animal Society has said that they will take care of a paralyzed dog for the rest of its life and they are even going to have a cart fitted for the poor dog so that he can get around. Now that’s kindness from the heart to hear that.

I already have one Dachshund and I will have to see if I might be able to adopt one of these dogs. You know that they are going to be needing a lot of help and they are saying that it could cost up to $200,000 or more just to help these guys, so if you can Please help them to save these dogs…

BMW Said: No More Dog Peeing On Our Cars

BMW has come up with a new idea to stop your dog from peeing on them. They have designed an electric sting of two hundred volts to help prevent your dog from taking a leak on their wheels.
BMW calls it the Canine Repellent Alloy Protection system, I kinder have to laugh at this. You know as well as I do, if a dog has got to go he’s going to go. I wonder if they will change the name of the cars to the new BMW zapper 1 and zapper 2 models. And the head line will say: Enjoy your driving experience without having your tires pee on.

Ok Who Dump The 90 Dogs In Oklahoma

That’s what state officials and animal rights group the Humane Society of the United States are wondering. Why would anybody just dump some ninety dogs and not even think about it.

President of the Central Oklahoma Humane Society Christy Counts said; He believes a puppy mill owner dumped the dogs off because he or she could not make enough profit. A puppy mill is an organization that breeds dogs and then sells them. Conditions in the puppy mills are not regulated, and that creates an environment where animal abuse is common.

The problem is that most states have no laws to help protect these poor dogs that are unable to defend them self’s. You would think that all that has gone on over the years and what we have been reading these past few months about puppy mills either just abandoned these animals or they are taking them out back and shooting them because they are not making money or they are too old. What a shame to read this again, where are, are congress men and women when you need them, don’t they own pets too.

I Heard Of A Dog Fetching A Stick, But A Baby!

This is not the real picture

A dog owner heard a cry of a baby and knowing that he didn’t have one in his house he investigated the noise and found his dog named China with a little baby girl that was only a couple of hours old with China’s puppies.

I have heard of stories of all kinds with dogs, but this one tops the cake. The little baby was brought to the hospital and the little mother who abandoned the baby finally came forward.

Just to think what was going though this dogs mind, it was like a human reaction to feel the need of help.

Inbreeding Causing Pedigree Dogs To Suffer

The BBC will be doing a documentary on how the dog world of pedigree dogs has suffered from breeding. They are having a genetic disease that shows spaniels with their brains being too big (syringomyelia) while boxers are suffering from epilepsy and pugs with breathing problems.

The Scientists from the Imperial College in London say that there are only 50 distinct individual types of pug dogs out of ten thousand. A professor named Steve Jones from the genetics at the University College said; People are carrying out breeding which would be first of all entirely illegal in humans and secondly is absolutely insane from the point of view of the health of the animals.

Mark Evans who is the chief vet at the RSPCA said; The welfare and quality of life of many pedigree dogs is seriously compromised by established breeding practices for appearance, driven primarily by the rules and requirements of competitive dog showing and pedigree dog registration.

Mans Best Friend Still Gets Around

When I read this article it was heart breaking, yet I felt the pain and love that Bernard Christelle had for his dachshund Jasper.
You see that Jasper had broke one of his vertebrae and separated his spine a doctor told Bernard about a doggie wheelchair.
Bernard said: They told me that Jasper was still healthy but just couldn't use his back legs, so I thought why not just give it a try, and it works perfect.

The most touching part of this is when Bernard said: Jasper has been of great companionship to me and helped get me through hard times with my wife ( Who had died two years ago) , and I appreciate that so much.

As I said in the beginning that a bond between a dog and their owner goes strong. They will be your companion for life.

Were Sorry You Can’t Have Guide Dog

All's Joseph Harris from Trenton, NJ wanted was a guide dog to help him get around but he received a letter from the Morristown guide dog school called The Seeing Eye Inc.

The letter from the school said: We regret to inform you that we will not be able to be of service to you. Our primary concern is with the loose dogs in your area. We would be reluctant to put a Seeing Eye dog at risk by placing him in a neighborhood that has a number of aggressive dogs within close proximity.

How can a business that it suppose to train these dogs to help people out like Joseph Harris have the right to say No. I thought that that’s what they are in business to help people out and not say No. What a shame to read this article.

Don’t Buy A Dog From This Person

How many times have people brought a dog from an ad in a newspaper thinking that they were getting a deal. When I read this article it tells the whole story behind the warning of puppy mill dogs.

A puppy broker named Gail Benoit of Digby County in Nova Scotia would by puppies for around a hundred dollars and resell them for five hundred to six fifty and you thought that you were getting a deal on this new puppy.
Well the dogs that Gail Benoit has been selling lately have been dying within days. You see some of them had a highly contagious illness called Parvovirus that the buyers were unaware of.
So you think that Benoit would take some kind of responsibility, no she said; If the puppies got any parvovirus, I’ll tell you one thing, it didn’t come from here. Those puppies were healthy when I sold them. You guys shouldn’t be harassing me, you should go after the puppy mills because I just buy and sell.

You see it’s the same story with all these puppy mills and the greedy people that will sell you a sick dog just to make some money. Hopefully the next time you go to buy a dog it’s from a AKA kennel or from a shelter.

Two Puppy Mill Owners Kill 80 Dogs

Elmer Zimmerman owner of E&A Kennel in Kutztown, PA and his brother, Ammon Zimmerman, who operated A&J Kennel next door has both shot and killed their dogs.

Jessie Smith, the dog law bureau's special deputy secretary said: It's horrible, but it's legal.

Tell me how can anyone just be able to go out and shoot all their dogs like that. Law or no law this is totally unacceptable to allow these two men to get away with this. Just because they ran a shabby puppy mill, you shoot 80 of them because you say that the dogs were just too old. These two guys need to be taken out back like the dogs were. How heart breaking is this.

Dachshund Finds Great Grandmother’s Wallet Missing For 60 Years

Oven in Herrin ,Illinois a nine year old Dachshund named Bagon was out digging around in the back yard when he discovered a wallet that has been missing for the last sixty years.
Betty Burgess the dogs owner said: that the wallet had belonged to her mother in law and that it still contained a Social Security card, a coal miner's card for Tillie's husband, Obediah, a 1949 calendar, Betty Crocker coupons, newspaper clippings and two rings in the change purse. One of the rings had mother engraved on it and the other was Tillie's birthstone and children's birthstones.
Betty Burgess granddaughter, Kelly Sealy said: There was also a picture of my uncle, Steve Burgess, who was only 4 years old at the time.

Wow if that story doesn’t make you feel good, I don’t know. Dogs are amazing when you think about it and to make a find like this is also amazing. I’ll bet this has brought back many great memories to Betty Burgess when she opened the wallet.

Do You Really Know What's In Your Pet Stain Remover

Pet Stain Remover Manufacturer Exposes Truth About Ammonia Pet Product Companies Greedy Pockets

A natural cleaning products manufacturer takes it into their own hands to expose ammonia and toxic based pet stain removers and odor eliminators in the market. Discover how these toxic pet stain removal products caused consumers to empty there pockets due to constant urination from there pets caused by ammonia based formulas.

(PRWEB) August 8, 2008 -- Stunningly a new green product manufacturer exposes the injustice of many pet stain and odor remover products by giving away their own. In the battle to remove pet stains, the company has exposed the simple truth that ammonia was a profitable raw material for many crack pot manufacturers in manufacturing pet stain removers.

In a internal research study MyCleaningProducts.com, a large wholesale cleaning products manufacturer in Florida. After considerable research of competing pet stain removal and odor elimination products, the results of their study have been exposed to the public.

What they have reported may be interesting and looked upon as a greedy manufacturer's business model. While most business owners see this as opportunity MyCleaningProducts.com owner has stuck to it's core business strategy and continues to product amazing green products that emphatically change how your day feels after using there Green Bean Product line. In fact, the company has exposed this harsh truth about pet products and has made a huge attack on all other pet stain remover products in the market.

According to MyCleaningProducts.com internal research, most pet stain removers in the market as of today are using ammonia based formulations. This raw material has been used for it's cleaning purposes, but after doing some critical research and somewhat of a "I am tired of what is out there and there must be something better for my pet..." Markus Skupeika stated. The owner has teamed up with his chemistry department and has discovered that these ammonia based formulas are very profitable for product manufacturers, but seriously problematic for pet owners. No only to the pocket books of pet owners. The pets and family suffer as well.

Why were ammonia based products were being thrown into the market blindly by manufacturers?

Ammonia was in fact according to internal research by MyCleaningProducts.com to increase pet urination. This ammonia is also found in pet urine and when sprayed onto carpeting to clean pet problems, the pet no matter how well trained found itself urged to urinate simply because of it's nature. The ammonia from these dog urine cleaners would cause pets to simply urinate more, thus creating more need for the product and many other harmful additions to consider for pet owners. The solution according to MyCleaningProducts.com is to implement dog urine cleaners with pheromones.
After careful study, the organic wholesale cleaning products company MyCleaningProducts.com have developed an entirely new brand for pet stains and odor elimination. In fact with employees frustration with other products as well as the owners frustration with what was out in the market, a new product has been born.

Pet Owners Going Green With Bonus Points and A Free Sample To Boot!

Stainerizer is now being offered with a free sample to guarantee customer satisfaction.

Not only that, interested pet owners can view the natural cleaning products company massive product launch. Which tons of added bonuses which will only be available during the launch will in fact be entirely free.

The wholesale cleaning product manufacturer has thrown into the massive launch free shipping, free pheromones, free aroma therapy fragrance, and a huge community to help pet owners train and work with there pets.

If you are a pet owner and ever doubted any pet stain remover, be sure to review there Stainerizer launch page. Currently the company has stated that the product with bonuses will not be available at the same price after the launch of 3000 gallons have been sold. After the 3000 gallons of the dog and cat urine cleaner has been sold, prices and bonuses are expected to be additional to the discounted price launch members would receive.

Stop by MyCleaningProducts.com, if the product is still available and join the pet stain and odor remover launch to receive your free sample plus the special added bonuses.

Freshly Made Pet Food By Paws Café

Paws Café, the Area's First Store Offering All Natural, Freshly-Made Pet Food, Holds Grand Opening August 16 and 17
The Redmond Store Makes Fresh Food to Maximize the Health of Dogs and Cats

REDMOND, WA--(Marketwire - August 7, 2008) - Paws Café, the area's first pet food store to offer all natural dog and cat food made fresh daily, will hold its grand opening Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17 from 10:00am - 7:00pm. The celebration will feature free, all-natural pet food samples, giveaways and drawings.

During the grand opening weekend there will be free consultations from Ahimsa Dog Training, Northwest School of Animal Massage, Canine Hydrotherapy and Massage, The Healing Place, and Lily-Rose Photography. In addition, Martha Norwalk from Animal World will be in the store on Sunday at 1:00pm.

Paws Café will donate five percent of every purchase to Reading with Rover, a community-based literacy program volunteering in schools, bookstores and libraries in the Puget Sound area.

Fresh food diets
Paws Café's pet food recipes are rich in natural, whole food nutrients. All of the store's freshly-made meals are formulated to meet the nutrient requirements recommended by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). Unlike most of the frozen or raw pet foods available today, Paws Café uses a combination of ground muscle and organ meat from healthy, sustainably-raised animals, a nutrient-packed blend of organic fruits and vegetables, human-grade bone meal, and unrefined cold-pressed oils to create fresh balanced meals without the need for additional supplements or fillers.

"Most of the commercial foods available today contain questionable meat and by-product sources -- many of them from meat not suitable for human consumption," said Paws Café owner Shelly Fuller. "They also contain cheap grain fillers, which are common allergens, as a means to bulk up their meals. Cheap filler ingredients introduce safety issues, such as the widely publicized melamine poisoning in 2007. The effects of commercial foods on our cats and dogs is staggering. The obesity rates are now said to be around 50 percent and with that comes a host of chronic health issues such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease."

Earth-friendly store

The store has incorporated many earth-friendly features, including using recycled building materials, recycled tires for the Paws Corral area mats, bamboo flooring in the retail area, and energy efficient refrigeration units and freezers. The storefront sign uses LED lighting, the retail bags and boxes are made from 100 percent recycled paper products, and food is packaged using clear, deli-style containers made from a corn-based material called PLA, which composts in about 30 days.

In addition to food, Paws Café also provides weekday doggie day care for non-aggressive, low intensity dogs, Saturday morning puppy socialization, puppy and basic manner dog training classes offered by Ahimsa Dog Training, on-site and off-site animal photography with Lily-Rose Photography, and on-site educational classes focused on the overall health and wellness of family canine companions by The Heavenly Spa and The Northwest School of Animal Massage.

"Our goal is to provide a complete community for pets and their owners," said Fuller. "By providing the healthiest food possible along with nutritional consulting, day care, training, massage and other products, Paws Café is the single resource for healthy, happy pets and families."

Paws Café regular store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00am - 7:00pm.

“Max and Chief are quite the dynamic duo,” said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons, referring to how his own dogs rode in a customized Go Daddy remote control car to deliver the special envelope.

This is the third consecutive year Go Daddy co-sponsored the telethon to help animals.
“Members of our organization are still talking about what a huge help Go Daddy was to us from the start,” said Tim Crum, Executive Director of the Arizona Humane Society. “One year, Go Daddy jumped in to save the telethon’s online component, the next year they helped to significantly increase our online contributions and this year they helped us reach our goal in donations.”

While many companies are cutting back resources these days, Go Daddy is expanding its workforce, recorded an Internet-first for number of domain name registrations and made more charitable donations already this year than last.

In 2008, Go Daddy has helped disadvantaged children, Parkinson’s research, domestic violence victims, homeless teenagers, flood victims and now abandoned pets, which might otherwise have to be euthanized.

In a typical year, the Arizona Humane Society shelters nearly 50,000 animals. The annual telethon not only raises much needed money for these animals, but also provides educational programs, including how to better care for your pet, fight animal cruelty and adopt a pet.

Puppy Needs Your Help To Recover From Beating

A little puppy who was only four months old was beaten by some kids and an adult which had made the poor dog loose an eye and possibly his leg. The kids also fractured his skull too by hitting the little dog with a sledgehammer, beer bottles and a rock.

I hope these kids get the book slammed at them and the judge gives them no mercy. Why in the world would you hurt a little puppy like that?

Homeless Vet Who Gave Up His Sick Dog, Gets His Dog Back

Video by KTLA

Bob Mikolasko who is a homeless Vet had thought that his dog was dying, had dropped his buddy off at the Granada Hills Medical Center Chatoak thinking that they would euthanize his sick dog.
Well it turned out that Kaiser was treated by the Medical Center and was reunited with Bob Milolasko after he had seen a news report looking for the dogs owner.

Here is part of the letter that Debbie Herot had found on the door step.
Dear Drs., please forgive me for this horrible transgression. I have no where else to turn so I ask you to mercifully, gently and lovingly please help him sleep. His name is Kaiser and he's 16-and-a half years old. He's been my friend, my teacher, my pupil, my lifelong loving and loyal companion.
We've been together 24-7 365 days a year since he was 8 months old. He's gentle, smart, and I'll miss him more than I could admit. Saturday evening, without warning or any outside influence, he began rolling on his back on the floor, all four legs extended, rigid and thrusting wildly in all directions. I saw fear and panic in his otherwise unrecognizable eyes. His head was pulled down to his right, and he seemed unable to do otherwise. If I had to render a guess I would say it appeared as though he had a stroke. He can stand, but 85 percent unsteady. He's fearfully reacting to attempts to get him to drink water. He refuses food as though he's totally lost knowledge of what to do with food.

What a sad story that turned out to be a dream come true for the dog and his owner.
