Yes today is Mother's Day but if you were me you wouldn't be enjoying it. My owners dumped me off at a pound and now I stuck behind bars because no one will adopt me.

   Why would someone just dump me off when they loved me when we first met. I see so many of my buddies in here and we a so sad because no one will adopt use.

  Just because we are dogs would you just dump off your real mom and let her sit behind bars like us? Will someone please adopt us, we will love you back and be very grateful if you do.

Justin Bieber Promotes Animals Can Make U Smile

It’s always nice to see someone with admiration with many fans named Justin Bieber out there promoting pet adoptions with PETA.

Justin Bieber's recent hit single "U Smile" not only has his legions of fans smiling but also has homeless dogs wagging their tails and homeless cats purring. That's because the pop music phenom--whose 3-D movie Never Say Never opens in Asia on April 14--is the star of a new PETA ad that promotes adoptions from animal shelters. The ad was shot by renowned celebrity photographer Cliff Watts.

"It's really important that people adopt," said Bieber. "I really encourage going out to an animal shelter or a place where you can get a dog who has been abandoned or doesn't have a home."

According to statistics from Hong Kong's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, more than 13,000 dogs and cats in Hong Kong were euthanized in 2009 alone simply because there weren't enough good homes. Buying an animal from a pet store or a breeder robs a homeless animal of his or her chance at finding a good home. The less fortunate never even make it to a safe haven; they are left to fend for themselves on the streets, where they are often subjected to abuse by cruel people or succumb to starvation, disease, or injuries.

Bieber's numerous awards include the American Music Awards' Artist of the Year, and he recently released an acoustic version of his breakthrough album called My World Acoustic. He joins a growing list of celebrities--including Lea Michele, Kellan Lutz, Pink, Maggie Q, Barbie Hsu, Jackie Chan, and Sun Li--who have teamed up with PETA to help animals.

Keys Manufacturing Company, Inc. Recalls Pig Ears for Pet Treats Because Of Possible Salmonella Health Risk

Keys Manufacturing Company, Inc. of Paris, IL is recalling Pig Ears for Pet Treats because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella can affect animals and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products. People handling dry pet food and/or treats can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the chews or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

Pig Ears for Pet Treats was distributed via truck to distributors in the following states: Pennsylvania, Virginia, Missouri, Iowa, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Texas and Minnesota.

The product was distributed in 100 count cases packed in cardboard boxes shipped between Sept. 27-Oct. 6, 2010; Nov. 1-Nov. 29, 2010; and Jan. 3-Jan. 25, 2011.

One illness to a dog in Missouri has been reported to date.

The recall is a result of a reported illness by a dog in Missouri. Subsequently, the company has been working with the FDA to identify any products that might contain the bacteria and the company and the FDA is continuing the investigation to determine what caused the problem.

Veterinary Specialty Hospital Success With Its First Bone Marrow Transplant In Dog With Lymphoma

Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego (VSH) has successfully performed a hematopoietic cell transplant (better known as bone marrow transplant) for a dog with lymphoma. Cody, an otherwise active and healthy 7-year old male Golden Retriever completed his treatment and is thriving with no complications 4 months after his discharge from the hospital.

Chemotherapy is the current treatment for dogs diagnosed with this type of cancer, but most patients succumb to this disease in less than 18 months even with therapy. For the past two decades, there has been little change in this prognosis.

Bone marrow cell transplant therapy is a treatment option for humans diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma and is a method that improves survival for many patients diagnosed with these diseases. This success is the motivating factor in development of a bone marrow transplant protocol to improve treatment outcome for dogs diagnosed with canine lymphoma.

According to Brenda Phillips, DVM, ACVIM (Oncology) and head of the transplant team, "as one of only 4 transplant centers in the United States, we are excited to offer this therapy as a potential cure for dogs diagnosed with the devastating disease of canine lymphoma."

For the past decade several dozen dogs with lymphoma have been treated with bone marrow transplant therapy. The protocols for bone marrow transplant have evolved to provide a well-tolerated treatment approach for our canine lymphoma patients.

While the cost of hematopoietic cell therapy is moderately high, it is close to the cost of traditional induction chemotherapy followed by several rescue therapy protocols, typically necessary for most canine lymphoma patients to achieve greater than a one-year survival.

Save A Life-Adopt A Pet" National Pet Week 2011

Adopt a Pet" is the simple but important messages that the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) will be promoting during National Pet Week 2011, May 1-7.

"The AVMA wants to encourage everyone this year on National Pet Week to think about the role that a new pet could play in your lives. By opening your home to a new animal, you'll be saving an animal's life while enriching your own life in innumerable ways," explains Dr. Larry Kornegay, president of the AVMA. "This year we've posted a video on Youtube, AVMAtv and also the AVMA Media Library with some excellent tips and information that potential pet owners should consider before adopting a pet."

National Pet Week is a celebration of pets that goes back three decades. This year, veterinarians across the country will be using the event to educate the public-including children-that pet adoption does save lives. The theme is particularly appropriate during the spring, when many shelters see an added influx of animals in need of homes.

The 100 Dogs That Were Killed In Whistler, BC Winter Olympics To Be Exhumed

The B.C. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will be exhuming the one hundred dogs that were killed at the Winter Olympics for their investigation on charges of animal cruelty.

What is being called the best of the best in the team of forensic experts to exhume the dogs is supposedly going to cost more than a quarter of a million dollars to put together enough evident to charge the guy that killed these dogs.

Over in Xinjiang, China there’s a dog who has become a mother to two Bengal tiger cubs.
