Surf Dog Ricochet, The SURFice Dog Raise Funds For The "Let's Move Together"

SURF DOG RICOCHET & LEASH YOUR FITNESS RAISE OVER $10,640 IN DONATIONS, WHILE RAISING AWARENESS OF HUMAN & CANINE ARTHRITIS.

Surf dog Ricochet, the SURFice dog who raised almost $30,000 for charitable causes in the last eight months, teamed up with Leash Your Fitness to raise funds for the "Let's Move Together" arthritis walk this past Saturday. Together, they raised over $10,640 in donations, and increased awareness of the disease which affects both humans and canines. The walk was held at the NTC Promenade at Liberty Station.

Leash Your Fitness, the only workout class in San Diego where your dog is your workout partner, co-sponsored the 12 member "Leash Your Fitness with Kima" team. Ricochet joined the team because her guardian and Handler, Judy Fridono has been suffering with arthritis since she was a teenager, and because there are so many dogs affected by this debilitating disease. Ricochet fundraised in earnest during the week leading up to the walk, and many of the donations came from her 8100+ incredibly supportive Facebook fans who were touched by her inspirational video.

Due to the support of her donors, Ricochet was the 2nd top overall fundraiser of the 2010 eighth annual walk in San Diego, raising more than $5480 in donations. In fact, two of the top fundraisers for all of San Diego were dogs Ricochet and Kima! Kima, the arthritis walk honoree dog chair came in third place overall.

Ricochet was the top fundraiser on the "Leash Your Fitness With Kima" team. And, the team came in second place overall as the top fundraising team for this year's walk with all members making a significant impact.

Leash Your Fitness also had incentives to help motivate individuals to join their team... including six weeks of FREE training. The team met weekly at various parks throughout San Diego for one-hour "walk the circuit" classes, which incorporated upper body strength and core exercises, balance, yoga and dog obedience. The team training was designed to build endurance for the three-mile walk, all while preparing dogs to walk in a group setting. I Think There's A Dog In There Somewhere

You would never know that this photo is a dog when you first look at it. The owner Paul Korneluk of Nanaimo, B.C. sure didn't care about this little lhasa apso/shih tzu mix looking at how matted this poor little dog is.

Now Paul Korneluk is being charged with cruelty to animals for his neglect to this dog. This poor dog had all kinds of sores and infections after the vet took of five pounds of fur.

I Heard Of Horse Power In A Car, But Dog Power?

It wasn’t really dog power but there was a little eight week old Lab stuck in Darlene Broome’s car which was strange to find after hearing noise coming from her car.

Darlene Broome said: I kept hearing this whining like an animal noise coming from around my car and the puppy was wedged in the motor on top of the transmission. The puppy was actually stuck, about an eight week old lab that she found under the hood of her car. I've heard of cats doing this before getting up in motors of vehicles but never a puppy or dog.

It’s amazing that the little dog even survived the ordeal in the first place. And a Big Thanks goes out to Matt Baxley for helping this puppy out of a jam and taking the dog to a vet.

More Dogs Seized In Different Areas

Florida deputies down in Polk County have done it again, this time they rescued sixty two dogs in Haines City that were taken from James Odom. So far James has been charged with twenty counts of animal abuse with more charges coming his way.

Sheriff Grady Judd said: It was a clear message; we are not going to tolerate animal abuse. Our Animal Control staff is working around the clock to address this overwhelming influx of abused animals. We are asking the rescue groups who we have worked with before to come to our aid. We will be open around the clock to ensure that the rescue groups have the opportunity to respond to our plea for assistance.

They must really be over whelmed with all the dogs they have rescued in the past week.

Down in Plant City the police arrested four people on charges for dog fighting named Antonio Ramirez, Bobby Bailey, Hector Rodriguez and Ricky Quiroz.

Up in Pierce County, Washington the animal control officers removed about fifty five dogs along with other animals from a home owner in Eatonville.
This is the same owner that had her animals taken from her a year ago and still she hasn’t learned her lesson.

Hopefully she will be charged this time by the prosecutor.

A Sad Loss For The 2009 World's Ugliest Dog Miss Ellie

The two thousand and nine Worlds Ugliest Dog winner Miss Ellie has passed on at the age of seventeen. She was just not any dog; Ellie was a hit though out the world as so many people showed the love for this Chinese Crested dog. It just goes to show that love has no sight when you look at the love this little dog has given us. She will forever be in our hearts.

True Friends Among Animals

I couldn't pass up sharing this e-mail I received.

True Friends

After losing his parents, this 3 year old orangutan was so depressed he wouldn't eat and didn't respond to any medical treatments. The veterinarians thought he would surely die from sadness. The zoo keepers found an old sick dog on the grounds in the park at the zoo where the orangutan lived and took the dog to the animal treatment center. The dog arrived at the same time the orangutan was there being treated. The 2 lost souls met and have been inseparable ever since.

The orangutan found a new reason to live and each always tries his best to be a good companion to his new found friend. They are together 24 hours a day in all their activities.


They live in Northern California where swimming is their favorite past time, although Roscoe (the orangutan) is a little afraid of the water and needs his friend's help to swim.





Together they have discovered the joy and laughter in life and the value of friendship.



They have found more than a friendly shoulder to lean on.




Long Live Friendship!!!!!!!




I don't know......some say life is too short, others say it is too long, but I know that nothing that we do makes sense if we don't touch the hearts of others.......while it lasts!
