DMX = Dog Murdering X Gets Off Easy

Well the chump named Earl Simmons has gotten off easy by a judge named Phemonia Miller from the Maricopa County Superior Court. You would have thought that the judge would have slapped the book at the one time rapper known as DMX.

To give a person only ninety days for what he did to his dogs is a total disgrace to the court system. How do you let someone off that easy that had abused and mistreated his dogs so badly that when the police search his house there were dead dogs lying around his yard? And if you had seen the photos from back then you would understand why.

You Paid How Much For That Dog

Ok Now we have another crazy story about a couple who paid one hundred and fifty thousand dollars to have their dead dog brought back to life by his DNA.

Do you know how many dogs that would have brought. And I wonder if it was really the same DNA that was used. Who do you trust these days? Yes I know about the love for ones dog, but to spend that kind of money is nuts.

So Did Pamela Anderson Help Stop The Killing Of The Dogs

The Indian Supreme Court has ruled that they will stop the killing of stray dogs in Mumbain with a little help from Pamela Anderson and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

It wasn’t really Pamela that made the courts change their minds.

Chief Executive, Abodh Aras, said; It’s not only Pamela Anderson but a lot of children have also been writing to the commission saying that one should have the policy of sterilization rather than killing stray dogs.

Pamela did write; Dogs cannot use condoms, but with the municipality’s help, they can be fixed painlessly, quickly and permanently.

They say there are seventy thousand stray dogs in India’s financial and entertainment capital and there are widespread concerns about their role in spreading disease, including deadly rabies.

New York, New York (PRWEB) January 24, 2009 -- It's true that the economic downturn is affecting all aspects of business and commerce in the United States, including book publishing and the pet industry. On February 7th, the weekend prior to the celebrated Westminster Dog Show, at the 1st Business of Pet Writing Conference in New York, publishing professionals and pet industry leaders will offer their insights and tips to help pet writers flourish in these challenging times.

The pet industry panelists will share valuable information on the latest trends in the areas of pet food; pharmaceuticals and supplements; travel and safety; pet health; dog ownership; animal legislation; pet professionals and pet-related facilities. Puppy Mill Raid Update

The authorities have now rescued some 600 hundred dogs now from Snohomish County property and another property in Skagit County.

The article reports that eighty percent of the dogs are pregnant. This is going to make matters even worst when it comes time to adopt these little dogs.

So if you would like to adopt a miniature Chihuahuas, Shih Tzus, Poodles or a Yorkshire Terriers you should keep a look out on the Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell web page. They have offered to do a pet adopt-a-thon when the dogs are well.

Also the Animal Control office is asking if anyone who had purchased a dog from the Mountain View Kennel to please call the animal control and ask for officer JoHannah Deterding at 360-336-9450 or e-mail her at johannad@co.skagit.wa.us.

Frankie Makes Pet Hall of Fame

Frankie, the Walk ‘n Roll Dog to be Inducted Into Wisconsin Pet Hall of Fame

Frankie was custom fit for a dog cart in 2006 after suffering a spinal injury. She teaches us that animals with disabilities can live quality lives and give back to the world in a positive way.

Elkhart Lake, WI, January 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association has chosen Frankie, dachshund of Barbara & John Techel, to be inducted into the Wisconsin Pet Hall of Fame.

This is the 15th year WVMA has honored pets who have enhanced human lives because of their outstanding contributions. The awards ceremony will be held on Feb. 28th, 2009 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pets are nominated by their local veterinarian in one of the following categories, hero, companion and professional. Frankie was chosen for the companion category. This means she has provided a benefit to her humans, Barbara and John, as well as her community.

Each veterinarian making a nomination is required to send a letter to WVMA explaining why they feel the animal has made a difference. Dr. Greg Bohn of the Kettle Moraine Veterinarian Clinic nominated Frankie and in part had this to say, “Frankie and Barb never gave up hope. Frankie was fitted for a cart and adapted well to her new wheels. She continued to greet and wag her tail at her numerous veterinary visits. I am sure Barb hoped Frankie would walk again and still probably would choose that for her companion if she could. But day by day they make the best of each and every moment. Barb and Frankie have reached out to many others by publishing a book and telling their story. They have made many school appearances and special needs kids are made to feel extra special when Frankie visits.”

Two years after Frankie’s paralysis she became a registered therapy dog through Therapy Dog, Inc. to further her positive message that animals with disabilities can live a quality life and bring joy to others. Frankie now enriches the lives of the elderly, hospital patients and people in hospice.

Bringing a positive face and voice to animals with disabilities has become a passionate mission of Barbara’s because of the lessons she has learned from Frankie. Barbara says, “Frankie never felt sorry for herself. She has taught me that any challenge can be overcome with a positive attitude. Frankie has taught my husband and me what is really important in life. Sharing Frankie’s story with others and knowing she is making a difference is so rewarding. Sometimes I can’t even find the words to express how my heart feels. I am honored WVMA has chosen Frankie for this recognition and the message of hope that Frankie is.”

Frankie continues to inspire Dr. Bohn and the Kettle Moraine Veterinarian Clinic each time she visits. Dr. Bohn ended his letter of recommendation by saying, “When Frankie visits our clinic, you can feel her presence. She has a contagious optimism that causes everyone to pause and notice because they want to be a part of that good feeling that Frankie imparts. As a veterinarian, she has taught me that it is not the outcome that is so important. It is the journey that holds the most meaning. This insight has made me a better doctor.”

Inspired by Frankie’s ability to “keep on rollin” Dr. Bohn is committed to helping pets and their owners make the most of their journeys and the time they have together. Frankie in turn will do what she does best and continues to live life to the fullest and share her infectious spirit with others.

To learn more about Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog you can visit Joyful Paws. To learn more about WVMA you can visit them on their website at WVMA or Kettle Moraine Veterinarian Clinic at KMVCvets.

Two Dog Owners Charged With Leaving Their Dogs Out In The Cold

First you have a lowlife named Pascal Bellon from Frelighsburg, Quebec who had left his poor little Poodle at the airport in his van for nineteen days. The dog was said to have lost half his body weight from not having any food or water while he was left in the freezing cold.

I’ll bet this jerk had a good time where ever he went. And how could you not even make an attempt to call someone to rescue the dog? You can’t say that he didn’t know sometime during his trip that he had left his dog in the van. To top it off the judge gave his a slap on the hand.

Read the article here.

Then you have a guy named Vernon Nix from Troy, NY who left his dog outside and now suffers from severe brain damage due to hypothermia and was emaciated.

So now he was arrested, I wonder what the judge will do to this lowlife.

Read the article here.

How could people be so dumb to leave their pets out in the cold like that. These two should never be allowed to own another animal again.

Next there’s an man from Kennett, Missouri who had fifty animals rescued from his home where twenty eight dogs reportedly were loosing their hair and had fleas along with eye infections.

Again another case of neglect to these poor little animals

Night Clubs For Dogs

Grand Opening Of Doggie Lounge and Nightclub

A new style of daycare is coming to the metro area. Your dog deserves the fun and style you look for. The Doggie Lounge provides all the fun and excitement in a safe, cafe-free environment.

Denver, CO, January 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Sid's Doggie Lounge Celebrates Unique Daycare with Grand Opening.Denver dog lovers know how important it is to find someone to trust with their four-legged family members. But with so many doggie daycares springing up around town, people are often unsure of daycare owners’ credentials, whether they should trust their dogs there, and whether their dogs will really have fun. The owners of Sid’s Doggie Lounge & Nightclub set out to make sure dog owners know they can put their trust in them, and that they will be leaving their dogs at a truly unique doggie destination.

Like many doggie daycares, Sid’s Doggie Lounge & Nightclub offers daycare and boarding along with grooming services. However, the owners of Sid’s wanted to go above and beyond the traditional services—and the traditional feel—of most doggie daycares.

“It was really important to us to create a safe, but fun atmosphere for the dogs, and to offer services and products that are good for dogs and that we can be proud of,” said Kyllee Dionisi, owner of Sid’s Doggie Lounge. “There are so many doggie daycares out there, but we knew we could make ours stand out if we just thought about what would make the best experience for the dogs and their owners.” And Kyllee should know; she is a certified dog trainer, a member of the American Boarding Kennel Association (ABKA), and a volunteer for the Humane Society.

From that viewpoint, Kyllee and her husband Sean have created a doggie daycare that is truly unique. They offer a 100% crate-free daycare service. Dogs get to run and play all day. But they run and play in a safe environment: the floors at Sid’s are rubber with ½” foam padding to protect dogs’ paws and joints; and puppies, big dogs, and senior dogs all get their own play areas. And, says Kyllee, “we wanted to give owners full access to their dogs’ whereabouts,” which is why they installed real-time doggie webcams that owners can view 24 hours, 7 days a week. And no matter what time an owner looks at the webcam, they will see a member of Sid’s highly trained staff—someone is there with the dogs 24 hours a day.

Sid’s Doggie Lounge & Nightclub doesn’t stop the pampering at boarding and daycare services. They offer a boutique stocked with affordable clothing for the “hip” dog, and they will only sell food that is natural and holistic, ensuring the health of their clients’ dogs for years to come. Although the motto at Sid’s is “What Happens in Daycare Stays in Daycare,” word is bound to get out about this unique daycare facility.

Sid’s Doggie Lounge and Nightclub’s website can be visited at http://www.doggielounge.com/.

Just What We Need Another Dog Food Recall

Natural Pet Corporation a company that distributes Optima dog food has pulled all their products from Australia’s shelves. While Optima pet food is made in the USA, according to the Ministry of Agriculture in China the Optima dog food is made by Australia's Doane International Pet Products.

So is this the next big dog food recall that might just help put a stop to all this.

The reports are that the dogs were poisoned by aflatoxin which attacks the liver in several animal species. Although rare in many parts of the world, the fungi that produce aflatoxins can contaminate cereal grains often used in pet foods.

Don't Bring Your Dog To The Inauguration

The HSUS Reminds Inauguration Attendees to Leave their Pets at Home
January 13, 2009

The Humane Society of the United States is reminding those planning to attend this historic event that all animals, excluding service dogs, will be prohibited from entering any inaugural event sites or locations. The Presidential Inaugural Committee has estimated that between one and three million people will attend next week's presidential inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The HSUS will be working under the authority of the D.C. Department of Health's Animal Disease Prevention Division to respond to any animal issues that arise during the inaugural activities. The HSUS' Emergency Services vehicle will be stocked with veterinary supplies and stationed within the inaugural staging zone. A second vehicle, capable of sheltering and transporting more than 100 animals, will be staged outside the security perimeter, to be available should any animal issues arise. HSUS staff and volunteers will be stationed among the crowd to assist if anyone with service animals or other animals is in need of assistance, including any needs of the police horses on site.

"While we understand the desire to share this momentous celebration with your pets, we strongly urge the public not to bring animals, other than service animals, to any of the inaugural activities or festivities," said Scotlund Haisley, senior director of Emergency Services at The HSUS. "This precaution is for both the safety of the public and the animals, who risk being injured in the massive crowds."

"Security precautions during this year's inaugural events will be unprecedented," said Peggy Keller, Chief of the Bureau of Community Hygiene for the D.C. Department of Health. "We want people to be able to enjoy this exciting event safely, but any person with an animal other than a service dog will be turned away at the security check point."

The Humane Society of the United States is the nation's largest animal protection organization – backed by 10.5 million Americans, or one of every 30. For more than a half-century, The HSUS has been fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education and hands-on programs. This Months Food And Fitness Tips

Pet Food Tips:

· Feed your Pet a high-quality diet. Select food made by companies known for nutritional research. Your Banfield veterinarian can recommend the best Pet food diet for your Pet.

· Make sure your Pet’s food is fresh. Purchase only the amount necessary for your Pet.

· Feed your Pet the correct amount of food. Determine portions according to your Pet’s weight and avoid overfeeding.

· Follow a daily feeding schedule. This will help your Pet maintain normal elimination habits and avoid indoor accidents.

· Avoid “people” food. Your Pet’s digestive system is simpler than yours and can be easily upset by feeding him/her table scraps.

Pet Fitness Tips:

· Consult your veterinarian first. Pets have different exercise needs, so before you begin, ask your veterinarian to help you determine a proper exercise routine for your Pet.

· Your dog needs a walk at least once a day. If your Pet has been inactive for awhile, then start the exercise routine slowly. Find a walking schedule that works for both you and your Pet, which might call for a short walk twice a day or one long walk.

· Help your cat stay active. For indoor cats, there are a variety of cat toys designed to help your cat stay active, or you can play hide/hunt games with them.

I thought that I would post this article about the other side of owning a dog. They are the victims from being attack by a dog that we only read about in the papers. After I read some of the stories it becomes heart breaking to read and feel the pain that they have gone through.

So please take care of your dog and have them trained so that your dog doesn't attack someone.

-Council Member of the Year: Brian Powers, Lakewood, Ohio
-County Judge of the Year: Judge Vernon E. Scoville, Jackson County, Missouri

Please View the DogsBite.org Annual Awards for 2008:
http://www.dogsbite.org/blog/2009/01/dogsbiteorg-announces-our-annual-awards.html

Each person awarded has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to preventing future victims from being subjected to a violent pit bull type dog attack. Because DogsBite.org is a victims group, writing about the Victims Advocate of the Year, Wendy Blevins, was the most difficult part of the 2008 awards. Wendy's story is powerfully awakening and is sure to rattle the deepest part of one's soul. But it is Wendy's role as a victims advocate -- in the wake of her daughter's traumatic injuries, and in the face of ridicule by pit bull special interest groups and owners -- that DogsBite.org hopes communities begin to understand the stunning and unmatched courage of a victim. It is this very courage that will alter the "pit bull conversation" forever.

DogsBite.org invites readers to watch the unforgettable video of Wendy and Charlotte:

Each person awarded will receive a framed certificate from DogsBite.org.

About DogsBite.org
DogsBite.org is a national dog bite victims group dedicated to reducing serious dog attacks by creating common sense laws. Through our work, we hope to protect both people and pets from future attacks. Our website, www.dogsbite.org, launched in October 2007 and contains a wide collection of data to help policymakers and citizens learn about dangerous dogs. Our research focuses on pit bull type dogs. Due to selective breeding practices that emphasize aggression and tenacity, this class of dogs negatively impacts communities the most. Our website hosts important dog bite studies, U.S. dog bite fatalities and other key bibliographies. In the Legislating Dogs portion of our site, we offer examples of breed-specific laws (state-by-state) and documentation of the constitutionality of these laws. The Victim Realities section provides a glance into the unforgettable stories victims leave behind and much more. DogsBite.org operates out of Seattle, Washington and can be contacted via: 206-260-2915 or press@dogsbite.org. So You Brought That Coat For Your Dog

Well after reading an article about people who buy these coats just might be doing their dogs harm. So you say to yourself it’s just a coat that I brought and he looks so nice in it I’m not hurting the dog.

Well Mark Johnston from the British Small Animal Veterinary Association said; Dogs have developed a very effective coat of their own, which will protect them from the elements. It is adjustable so they can raise the fur to control their temperature. Dressing them in a coat diminishes the animal's ability to regulate their own body temperature and could be detrimental if the animal gets too hot.

A spokeswoman from the RSPCA Helen Briggs said; Under the Animal Welfare Act, you are obliged to provide appropriate conditions and environments for your dog. So if you are slapping a great big coat on it when it really doesn't need it, then that could cause it to suffer if it is overheating. It is the same as if you leave a dog in a car in hot weather. Some breeds have been bred to have less fur, so in some cases it is quite appropriate for a dog to wear a coat in very cold weather. But if an owner is just doing it for a fashion statement or because they think it is cool, I would question that.

So after reading about all the damages that you can cause your loved pet by wearing these stylish coats I would think that it would be best not to use them unless you check with a Vet first.

Will Missouri Get Tough With Puppy Mills

If things go the way the Missouri Animal Right Groups are fighting for, they just might help save the poor dogs in some of these puppy mills.

The Director of the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation said; We are the puppy mill capital of the United States unfortunately. We're not against commercial breeding we're just saying if you go into that business you need to follow the law.

Just maybe these poor dogs might have a chance to live a better life. All that I have read about puppy mills all seams to read like every one had good intentions when they first started out, but then they had gotten over whelmed and that’s when things get out of hand. So who’s the one that is suffering; the poor dogs. Maybe with more inspectors going around and keeping tabs on the breeders to make sure they are ran right and to help them out when needed things might change for the better.

Help Stop The Puppy Mills Site

That Puppy in the Window Costs Too Much: New Website Aims to Shut Down Puppy Mills

The lure of a puppies sweet trusting face is undeniable. The sad, cruel truth behind puppy mills is animal cruelty. A New Hampshire woman has made it her life's goal to put all cruel puppy mills out of business.

Manchester, NH, January 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- When Realtor Sherry Bezanson of Londonderry, NH learned of the cruelty behind the pet store trade, she made it her life's mission to shut down the puppy mill industry. Bezanson raised $6,200 to post a billboard in downtown Manchester. It warns potential dog-buyers of the nasty neglect behind many puppy purchases. The advertisement cost $8, 2000 so Bezanson is still accepting donations.

Bezanson used the internet to raise funds. She turned to Caroline Bogart of Bogart Computing, LLC to create PuppyMillDogsVoice.org (Puppy Mill Dog's Voice). Bogart provides free websites to anti-cruelty and animal rescue causes.

Once people learn about puppy mill cruelty they are ready to jump with a donation or join a "peaceful protect" outside a pet store. "I'm getting more and more hits each day and more and more people contacting me about my cause," Bezanson said.

The website uses the Joomla content management system (CMS). The Joomla software features allow Bezanson to update the site at any time. Using a browser-based editor similar to Microsoft Word, the website allows Bezanson to keep the website's stories up to date.

Bogart added a Donation Thermometer so visitors could see the billboard campaign's progress. The site is linked to PayPal for safe and fast donations.

"I wanted a website because so many people aren't aware and find it hard to believe what's going on behind the scenes of the local pet shop that sell puppies or the fancy internet breeder websites," Bezanson said. "The cruelty and inhumane conditions these poor helpless dogs that are used as breeding machines live in all so the puppy millers can make a buck without any regard whatsoever for the health and well being of the dogs. Very sad but my website is helping to educate people everyday and that is exactly what I wanted! "

The website teaches visitors about the shocking and sad truth behind the cute face in the pet store window. It guides the reader on how to responsibly adopt dogs. For those who want to join Bezanson in the fight to ban puppy mills, there is Letter to the Editor advice and periodic "peaceful protests" outside local pet stores that sell dogs.

Donations to the Puppy Mill Dog's Voice Billboard Campaign can be made at http://puppymilldogsvoice.org. Donors can also sponsor an anti-puppy-mill classified advertisement in the Dogs For Sale section of the local newspaper.

Dog Missing For 25 Days Is Found By A Little Girl

A dog named Einstein got loose and ran away some twenty five days ago, his owner thought that the dog wouldn’t ever be found. Well a little girl named Sarah happened to spot the poor dog that was caught up around a tree.

Lucky for Einstein who had lost some thirty pounds from being out in the woods all alone. The owner Pam Jones said: About 25 days he's been out in the elements with the cold and the snow, and the sub-temperature windshields so, the vet said it's just a miracle he survived. We wouldn't have him back if it wasn't for you sweetie, we just thank you so much.

What a great article to read just as the new year has started.
